There has been a large turnout of voters at affected polling units at the ongoing Supplementary Elections into two Federal Constituencies in Oyo state.

Our correspondent monitoring the exercise also observes that the exercise has been violence free as of the time of filling this report.

At Ward 7, Polling Units 001, there was a heavy security presence involving the Nigeria police, Nigeria Army, DSS, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps as well as some paramilitary agencies.

Meanwhile, Oyo State INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella and his team have begun monitoring the affected polling units to ensure the functionality of the use of the Bimodal Verification and Accreditation System, BVAS

Speaking with journalists at Ward 2 unit 1, A.B.E Technical, the Resident Electoral Commissioner assured electorates of the credibility of the polls.

Reacting to a change of election venue at IDU, Dr Tella disclosed that the change was for security reasons.

He expressed satisfaction with the functionality of the use of BVAS, noting that the exercise has been relatively peaceful.

The Supplementary Election into Ido Osi constituency one of the Ekiti State house of Assembly is ongoing.

The exercise is taking place in polling units 3, 12 and 14 all in Ido Osi Constituency One.

It was observed that the turnout was encouraging compared to the March 18 House of Assembly election in the state.

Some of the voters confirmed to Radio Nigeria that there was early arrival of election materials and the personnel.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami led the management team to monitor the exercise.

Briefing Newsmen, the REC, Professor Ayobami Salami expressed satisfaction with the process.

Also, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Dare Ogundare, who led security personnel to the three Polling units, said adequate officers were deployed for the exercise to ensure its peaceful conduct.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC were on ground to check vote buying.
