Pandemonium broke out on Thursday morning at Oke-Ana, Ijesa, Osun State, when two middle-aged men were apprehended by the residents for alleged ritual activities.

The suspects were arrested with various items, including a large number of shoes, bones, clothes and a voter card in an old building belonging to the father of one of them.

Some Youths who apprehended them told Radio Nigeria that an unusual odour of decomposing bodies had been oozing out of the old structure in the last few days.

They noted that the suspects had been arrested sometimes for various crimes by the police but were released.

Alana of Oke-Ana, Oba Alana Adegboye, in his reaction said he called the police immediately after he got the information, to restore peace in the community and unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Also speaking, the Commandant, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Osun State Command, Mr Fatai Akintola appealed to the people to provide security agencies with useful information to nip crimes in the bud.

The Ijebu-Jesa Divisional Police Officer, Mr Bamidele Solomon who was at the scene of the incident pleaded with the residents to go about their lawful duties while thorough investigation would be carried out on the matter.

Officers of the Gombe Police Area Command have arrested three suspects said to be specialized in dismembering body parts of corpses at the cemetery in the state, over alleged possession of human heads.

The paraded suspects are; Yale Saleh, 27, Baba Muhammadu, 24, and Aminu Salisu, 22, all from Dinawa village in the Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Gombe State (PRO) Police Command, Mahid Abubakar, officers were able to retrieve one out of the two human heads the suspects dug from their graves.

Abubakar said, “Based on credible information, the suspects were arrested in possession of a human head. During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed that they dug the grave and cut off the head of one Abdullahi Mohammed ‘m’ who was buried on March 28, 2022, at the Dinawa village cemetery.

“The suspects further confessed to have dug the grave of a deceased woman, name yet unknown, at the same Dinawa village cemetery and cut off her head. Effort is ongoing to recover the second head. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.”

Abubakar urged residents to continue to provide officers with relevant information towards curbing heinous crimes in the state.

“The State Commissioner of Police, Ishola Babaita, wishes to use this medium to appeal to all peace loving citizens of Gombe State to continue to partner and co-operate with this Command by furnishing us with credible information about the activities of the men of the underworld. All information shall be treated with utmost confidentiality and the identities of our informants will be protected,” Abubakar added.

The police also paraded a 50-year old gun fabricator, Usman Isah, from the Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, was also nabbed for aiding crimes.

The PPRO revealed that investigation was ongoing, adding that Isah would be charged to court for prosecution.

Abubakar said, “Isah specialised in fabrication of arms for men of the underworld who operate along the Wawa-Dukku area of Gombe State. The suspect confessed that he is responsible for fabrication of several Dane guns to criminals within and beyond Gombe State. Exhibits recovered include four locally-fabricated Dane guns.” Intelregion

A 30-year-old plumber, Saheed Baruwa, who was earlier reported missing by his family members, has been found after spending a day in suspected ritualists’ captivity.

Baruwa was declared missing on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, by his family before he was later found on Wednesday around Sasa Road, Oke Bale Area of Osogbo.

According to a family member who did not want to be mentioned, Baruwa was kidnapped by suspected ritualists alongside three other persons at Osunjela Area.

The family member explained that he left home for work on Tuesday, December 7, around Osunjela, after receiving a call from a yet-to-be-identified person who asked him to come for a plumbing job.

He said when he was found, Baruwa told the family that he was kidnapped by suspected ritualists who had earlier invited him for plumbing work at Osun Jela area.

He added further that Baruwa told them that after he got to the place, he became unconscious and did not know exactly where they were taking him to.

His phone was seized and all applications on the phone were deactivated, but however, was later set free.

Operatives of Ogun state police command have arrested a twenty year old suspected ritual killer, Festus Simon accused of killing a twelve old boy in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in his statement at Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested at Simawa area of the state following a tip off of the hide out while trying to evade police arrest under the pretense of looking for job.

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect had fled his resident at Iyana church area of Iwo road Ibadan to Simawa area of Ogun state after he allegedly killed his victim on 1st October 2020.

The police spokesman said the suspect had made useful statement while the Oyo state police command had been contacted for onwards transfer of the suspect.

 Mr Oyeyemi pointed out that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had used the feat to renew the determination of police to get rid of crimes in the state.

An eighteen-year-old girl has been raped and machete to death by unknown suspected ritualists at Idi Ori, Akinyele Local Government Area, Sasa, Ibadan.

The victim who was a student of Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki was sleeping in her room when the incident happened. 

According to a witness, who preferred anonymity, the suspected ritualists came in through the ceiling, rape and machete the victim to death. 

As at the time of filling the report, the police had taken the deceased corpse to Adeoyo Hospital mortuary. 

Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Gbenga Fadeyi proved abortive.
