The Anglican Archbishop of Ibadan Province and Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese, Bishop Williams Aladekugbe, has urged all levels of government to stop paying lip service to Nigerians’ worsening plight and challenges.

The Bishop made this appeal on Sunday while addressing journalists shortly after delivering his sermon at St. Matthias Anglican Church, Orogun, Ibadan.

He called on authorities to take proactive measures against insecurity and inflation without further delay.

“Peace and sustainable development will accelerate rapidly if Nigerians enjoy adequate security and basic social amenities,” Bishop Aladekugbe said.

Earlier in his sermon titled “The Proofs of His Resurrection” — drawn from 2 Corinthians 15:3-9 — the Bishop described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a celebration of deliverance, victory, redemption, and salvation.

Wife of the Bishop, Mrs. Catherine Aladekugbe, counseled Nigerians to continue trusting God and remain accommodating to one another, especially during the current economic downturn.

Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan Zonal Station, and one of the worshipers, Mr. Olufemi Fulani, said the purpose of Christ’s death and resurrection should reflect in every Christian’s daily life.

The service’s highlight included the Bishop confirming new confirmees and laying hands on them.
