Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State Command has commenced a 3-day training programme for the divisional heads and other officers and men of the Corps.

The program was held at Area A Command of the Corps at Railway Quarters Iyaganku Ibadan.

Declaring the training open NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Michael Adaralewa said the workshop became imperative as training and retraining was vital for officers and men of the corps to preserve the integrity of the Nation. 

Mr Adaralewa charged the participants to surrender themselves for the protection of lives and properties by making use of the knowledge acquired during the training shown in their service delivery to the safety of the state.

The NSCDC boss stated further that the theme of the workshop, “Prosecution as a tool for effective service delivery and special tactics needed on surveillance at worship centres” will go a long way in tackling security challenges. 

On his part, the head of the training department of the Corps, Mr Kabir Baffa stressed the need for the officers and men to understand the effective way of defending the defenceless as that was part of the mission of NSCDC.

“If the officers that are supposed to protect do not know the techniques of protection, then it is a disaster” 

While giving a lecture on the importance of information gathering for effective policing as a tool in successful operations, the Deputy Commandant of the Corps, Mr Soji Akingbade said without credible and prompt intelligence gathering there would not be any successful operations.

He enjoined the participants and the general public to always inform the Corps with credible information about their environment for quick interventions. 

Other topics treated at the workshop included special tactics needed on surveillance at worship centres, legal tips on the judicial process of filling cases for prosecution, drills and Marshall art.
