Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Council, Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim has said that hoodlums have allegedly vandalised about eleven vehicles of the Water Corporation of Oyo state.

Striking Workers of the corporation had embarked on protests yesterday and vowed to continue the protest this morning.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim stated that hoodlums in Hummer buses had around one o’ Clock this morning swooped on booster pumping station at Agodi, vandalising the vehicles and carting away the keys of the vehicles.

Mr. Ibrahim, who is also the State Secretary of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreation Services Employees (AUPCTRE) said security agencies have been briefed about the development.

He appealed to the Striking Workers to remain calm, assuring them that the strike would not be suspended until the Oyo state government address their demands

Civil Servants having offices within Oyo State Government Secretariat are struggling to gain entry as all entrances leading the secretariat were this morning blocked with vehicles belonging to Ministry of Water Corporation.

The blockage of the entrances had led to traffic gridlock around the secretariat, creating chaos as both motorists and pedestrians are having hard time to gain entry.

Some of the workers of the Water Corporation seen at the entrance and approached for Interview declined.

All entrances were adorned with placards bearing inscriptions like- where is one Billion Naira meant for chemicals, safe workers of Water Corporation from hunger and poverty, don’t kill Water Corporation among others.

Security operatives were on ground to maintain peace and orderliness. Few weeks ago the workers of Oyo state Water Corporation begun an indefinite strike to press home their demands.
