Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has flagged off Migrant E- Registration in the state with a call on employers of foreigners and their landlords  to key into the initiative.

He stated this while speaking at the event held at the Nigerian Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, Agodi, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde said that Migration E-Registration would enhance internal security by identifying, verifying and determining the migration status of resident migrants in the state in particular.

The Oyo helmsman reiterated the readiness of his administration to provide peace, safety and adequate security of lives and property to the people in the State, saying that no meaningful development can take place in a chaotic environment

He therefore called for hundred percent compliance of registration by eligible migrant without any waste of time, adding that it would enhance the State internal security and make relevant agencies have access  information from data base if the need arises.

Earlier, the Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service Oyo State Command, Mr. Saleh Abdullahi stated that the migrant E-Registration entails the enrollment and biometric capturing of all migrants residing in all 33 local government areas of Oyo State or who may wish to stay for a period more than 90 days in line with Section 57 Sub-section 5 of the Immigration Acts of 2015.

Mr Abdullahi while noting that the registration is free said that the failure to comply with this Migrant E-Registration is contrary to Section 57 (5) of the immigration Acts 2015 and punishable under the penalty of three years imprisonment or fine of five hundred thousand Naira or both.
