The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as an accomplished entrepreneur, philanthropist and a distinguished son of Ile-Ife whose life was defined by humility, integrity and selfless service to humanity.
According to a statement signed by the Ooni’s Senior Media Officer, Mr Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Chief Moses Olafare, the monarch said the passing of Prince Adetunji had created an irreplaceable vacuum in the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
The Ooni noted that beyond his remarkable achievements in business, the late Prince was widely admired for his compassion, generosity and philanthropy, touching countless lives through acts of kindness, mentorship and unwavering support.
The Statement reads”, today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion.
His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all.”
Oba Ogunwusi stressed that his late brother’s legacy extended far beyond the business community, noting that he consistently upheld the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family through exemplary conduct, humility and an unwavering commitment to the progress of society.
The Ooni prayed for the peaceful repose of Prince Adetunji’s soul and extended condolences to members of the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife, urging them to take solace in the enduring legacy of excellence, kindness and service the deceased left behind.
Late Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi was born on 8th December, 1967, into the family of Pa John Oluropo Ogunwusi of the illustrious Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife.
