The Forum of Concerned Academics, Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, has rejected the leadership of the Institution’s ASUU, Dr. Akinyemi Omonijo and demanded for a Union that will remain focused on its mandates.

Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, Chairman of the Forum, Professor Shola Omotola and Dr. Wasiu Oyedokun described all the allegations against the Management of FUOYE by the Zonal Executives of ASUU, as
cheap blackmail and attempt to destroy the good image of the
University.

Professor Omotola explained that Dr. Omonijo, who had since been
impeached, was still regarded as the leader of ASUU, FUOYE chapter by the Zonal ASUU.  

He described most of the press conferences by Professor Olufayo, Dr. Omonijo and others as unauthorized and a way to portray the University in a bad light.

Another concerned academic, Professor Patrick Okolo described the crisis in the University as tribal war and called on stakeholders to
wade into the challenges.

In a chat with Newsmen, The Forum of concerned Academics in FUOYE said, allegations of lack of infrastructure, Laboratories, Science equipment, highhandedness, mismanagement of funds, recruitment racketeering among other allegations against the FUOYE’s management were fictitious.

They however said that in spite of the situation in the University, the feats recorded by the students and staff of the University in International Competitions was clear picture that FUOYE remained focus on academic excellence.

The Group of Academics in FUOYE expressed worry that despite the turbulent years and inability to pay salaries in EKSU for months, ASUU Akure Zone and Professor Olu Olufayo did not bother to organize a press conference to demand staff welfare and described the recent one he and Dr Omonijo conducted as a clear demonstration of mafia war against management of the university.
