Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, has developed a curriculum to teach Cement Technology in an indigenous cement company and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN.

Rector of the institution, Dr. Olusegun Aluko, who made this known while addressing a news conference in Ilaro as part of the fortieth anniversary of the polytechnic, explained that the institution was committed to supporting the Federal Government’s agenda to diversify the country’s economy into agriculture and other sectors to reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

Dr. Aluko hinted that the cement company had ordered equipment worth two hundred and twenty million worth of equipment for the school for the smooth takeoff of the course.

The rector noted that the polytechnic was ready to work assiduously to ensure that the age-long narrative of economic meltdown becomes a history by producing self-reliant graduates that would contribute to the economic development of the country

The rector disclosed that the institution would be graduating over four thousand students in both National (ND) and High National Diploma (HND) programmes.

He also disclosed that the Polytechnic would be conferring awards on prominent Nigerians including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the Olu of Ilaro  Oba Kehinde Olugbenle for their services to humanity, Nigeria and particularly, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
