The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has promised to give full backings to the committee set up by the Oyo town and the Oyo East Local Government to reconstruct Akesan Market gutted by fire to meet up with international standard.
He stated this during on the spot assessment to the scene of the incident and visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi to commiserate with the people of the ancient town
Governor Makinde said within shortest possible time, Akesan Market would be redesigned to meet up with international standard.
In a remark,the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi said Oyo town would work collectively with the state government at ensuring speedy reconstruction of the market.
The Iyaloja of Oyo Town, Alhaja Khadijat Bakare, appealed to governor Seyi Makinde to have mercy on the victims of the fire incident.
Governor Makinde had earlier visited the scene of Iyaganku Furniture House where materials worth millions of Naira were razed to ashes by fire.
