Tenure of Local Government caretakers committees in Ondo state have been extended by six months.

The State Assembly at a plenary presided over by the speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun announced the extension after the screening exercise for the would be Chairmen and Supervisory councilors at the chamber.

Mr. Oleyelogun noted that their tenure could be cut short based on the forthcoming Local Government election as announced by the state independent electoral commission, ODIEC.

Radio Nigeria reports that two of the supervisory councilors from Akure South and Ondo East were however rejected due to some anomalies.

The lawmakers had initially rejected the nominee’s extension of tenure when names of the supervisory councilors were not included in Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s letter to house.

The lawmakers thereafter announced continuation of their six weeks recess.
