We need to take good care of the elderly – Erelu Fayemi
Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has advocated proper care of the elderly citizens by relatives and well-meaning members of the society.
Erelu Fayemi stated this in Ikere-Ekiti while addressing a cross-section of elderly people.
The governor’s wife advised relatives and members of the society to make deliberate efforts at caring for the aged in the country.
She pointed out that issued linked with advanced age were usually responsible for the fragile nature of the elderly, hence society and relatives must support and provide succour for them.
The Ekiti state first lady frowned against the idea of avoiding old people and tagging them with negative names.
Erelu Fayemi cited the case of a woman in Ikere-Ekiti, Mrs. Jolaade Osho whose children abandoned on the excuse that she was a witch and later died at the age of 110.
