The Executive Members of the famous Bodija Market have been suspended until further notice over allegations of extortion leveled against them.
Caretaker Chairman, Are Latosa Local Government Development Area, Ibadan North, Samonda, Prince Adewale Oshoniyi disclosed this while speaking with government house correspondents at Agodi, Ibadan.
Prince Oshoniyi explained that the action became necessary as a result of a preliminary investigation which indicted some executive members of the market union association in partnership with some unscrupulous elements are collecting illegal daily levies from Bodija traders in the name of the government.
The chairman explained that the miscreants extorting the traders have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police, Bodija Police Division.
Prince Oshoniyi admonished traders at the Bodija Market to desist from roadside trading reiterating that whoever was caught in the act would be seriously dealt with.
