The Ondo State House of Assembly says the Speaker’s Lodge was not under siege as being speculated in some quarters.

The lawmakers stated this at a Parliamentary session presided over by the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun at the Speaker’s lodge in Akure.

The lawmakers described the rumour as the handiwork of the fifth columnists who wanted to disrupt the relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.

The lawmakers debunked the news making the round that there was plan to commence impeachment moves against the Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu. 

According to the lawmakers, in a statement made available to newsmen by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Olugbenga Omole, the armed policemen sighted at the Speaker’s lodge were at some distance away and were there to maintain peace, law and order.

The statement notes that on the four point three billion naira under scrutiny, all relevant documents would be submitted to the Committee on Public Account and Committee on Finance and Appropriation for support.

The statement emphasizes that no member of the House of Assembly should talk to the press without making reference to the Speaker.

It adds that the only person authorised to speak on behalf of the House is the Chairman, House Committee on Information.
