Youths in Ibadan today trooped out to protest the incessant rape and other forms of assault on women in the country.

The Protesters under the umbrella of National Youth Council of Nigeria were agitating for justice against rape.

The protesters, who moved from the office of the National Orientation Agency, terminated the rally at the Oyo states Governor’s office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Chairperson, National Youths Council, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs. Adebobola Agbeja said the peaceful rally was organized to call for justice against rape victims and to stop the crime in Nigeria.

National President, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANs, Mr. Daniel Akpan urged stakeholders to find a lasting solution to security challenges in the country.

Addressing the protesters, the Oyo State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mrs Dolapo Dosumu who said rapists live within communities emphasized the need for society to play its role accordingly, by educating the male child on the need to respect their female counterpart.

Receiving the protesters at the state Secretariat, Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde represented by Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Seun Fakorede promised that the government would not relent until the perpetrators were brought to book.
