Ekiti state government says the four new cases of Coronavirus recorded in the state is not as a result of community spread.

The Commissioner for Health and Human services, Dr Mojisola Yahaya-Kolade who stated this in Ado Ekiti at a press briefing on  COVID-19, explained that out of the four new cases recorded,  a young man recently visited Lagos during the lockdown, two health workers, While an elderly citizen among them did not have any travel history.

She said that Government was doing everything possible within its capacity to prevent community spread of the virus and urged the people to always put on a facemask, ensure social Distancing and prevent activities that could endanger their health.

The Coordinator, Ekiti Taskforce on COVID-19, Professor Bolaji Aluko emphasized that wearing a facemask was very essential before anyone could go to public places.

Professor Aluko said that stringent steps would be taken against anyone caught moving on the streets or public places without a facemask.

Presently, Ekiti state has recorded twenty-nine COVID 19 cases with eighteen treated and discharged, two deaths and nine active cases.
