The Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command has deployed officers to some black spot areas in the state to avert the alleged annual celebration of some cultist group.
Police Public Relations officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria Ibadan.
Mr Fadeyi said the command got to know that some secret cult groups popularly known as “Aiye and Eiye confraternity have chosen today and August 8 to have an annual carnival which might cause mayhem in the state.
He noted that the police commissioner had deployed officers and some machineries to ensure that the command respond adequately and deal decisively with any threat to peace and order in the state.
The police spokesman noted that the groups should rather desist from the act or face the wrath of the law.
He, therefore, solicited the support from the entire residents by giving out useful information on how to prevent security challenges which have posed a threat to the development of the nation.
