Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has been declared the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, APC in the Ondo State’s governorship election slated for October 10, 2020.
This follows Governor Akeredolu’s emergence as overall winner of the governorship primary held at the Dome, in Akure, the state’s capital
According to the chairman of the governorship primary election, Governor Yaya Bello, Governor Akeredolu polled two thousand four hundred and fifty-eight votes to defeat other aspirants in the daylong primary election
The closest aspirant, Chief Olusola Oke, who scored two hundred and sixty-two votes was followed by Mr Isaac Kekemeke, who recorded nineteen votes
Ambassador Olusola Iji scored nine, Nathaniel Adojutelegan alongside Olajide Adelami recorded four votes each followed by Olajumoke Anifowose who had two votes.
Awodeyi Akinsehinwa and Ife Oyedele came out with one vote each while Bukola Adetula came last with zero vote aside from the thirty-three invalid votes recorded in the exercise.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Akeredolu encouraged the co-aspirants to work together and see him as the custodian of their visions for the development of the state.
He said the result reflected no victor, no vanquish and encouraged all party members to concentrate on the governorship election with a view to ensure continuity of people’s oriented projects across the state.
