The Olufon of Ifon, Oba Maruf Magbagbeola and the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan have agreed to give peace a chance between the two communities.

This followed a peace accord signed by the two traditional rulers at a meeting held at the instance of the state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola.

Osun state governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola urged the two communities to maintain peace and desist from acts that could lead to violence.

Governor Oyetola noted that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony hence the need for two warring communities to embrace peace.

Speaking the traditional rulers of two communities, the Olufon of Ifon Osun, Oba Moruf Magbagbeola and Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan promised to maintain peace in their domains.

They assured government that they would work together to resolve the age-long land dispute in the communities.

Osun State Commissioner for Police, Mr Adie Undie said the command had mobilized security to the communities to forestall communal crisis.

Highlight of the event was signing of peace accord and the peace accord stated that none of the two communities should lay claim to the disputed land for now while all farmers who had been sent away are enjoined to return to their farmlands.
