Women journalists have been encouraged to strive towards making positive impacts on society at all times

Zonal Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Mrs Morenike Tony -Esan gave the advice at the inauguration of the new executives for Ogun State chapter of the association, led by the Controller News, Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Mrs Modupeola Sobukonla.

Mrs Esan, while noting the numerous roles of women in the task of nation building, advised the newly elected to fashion out ways of balancing their roles for better performance. 

The Zonal Vice President of NAWOJ said promoting the welfare of the females and other vulnerable groups of people was a major responsibility of the association hence the need for the leaders to serve selflessly. 

She tasked women journalists to address in the issues in the society uprightly and be more committed to uplift the association and NUJ in general. 

In an acceptance speech, the new State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Sobukonla promised that her team of dedicated leaders would always rise against societal ills and protect the interest of members. 

The newly inaugurated executive members included Adenike Ajala of Local Government Information Chapel as Vice Chairman, Olukemi Orunsolu of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA as Secretary and Morenikeji Sobaloju of the State Television, OGTV as the Treasurer. 

Others were Adejoke Adeleye of PM News as Assistant Secretary and Bosede Akintunde of Family FM as the Financial Secretary. 

The new executives is to steer the wheels of the association for the next 3 years.
