Physically challenged persons in the country will be given adequate consideration in the selection of beneficiaries for the forthcoming federal government’s temporary employment of one thousand Nigerians per local government across the nation.

The three months programme under the Special Public Works Scheme is expected to run between October and December this year. 

Chairman, Oyo State Selection Committee, Mr Ope Salami disclosed this while speaking on Straight Talk, an interview programme on Premier 93.5 FM. 

Mr. Salami who said anyone above the age of eighteen can apply and that the forms would be distributed with no cost at National Directorate of Employment, NDE Offices in the 33 local government areas of the state, explained that physically challenged persons will be given an appreciable slot in the scheme.

He said “We want to engage those with disabilities, just specify your disability, there is a column on the form that specify your disability”.

“The disabled will be given slot in the selection. Once you are above eighteen, you can apply, University graduates can apply, and primary six graduates can apply” He said

Mr. Salami gave assurance that the state committee will be fair and transparent in the selection process, noting that every Nigerian, irrespective of political, religious or socio-cultural affiliations would be given equal opportunity.

He promised that the committee would make use of the electronic, print and new media to intimate members of the public as soon as the forms are available.
