Nursing mothers have been advised to exclusively breastfeed their
children for six months as the best source of nutrition for the
infant.

A Senior Registrar at the Department of Pediatrics, Wesley Guild
Hospital, Ilesa, Doctor Yetunde Osundare stated this while speaking
with on the significance of this year’s World Breastfeeding
Week.

Doctor Osundare stressed that breastfeeding was beneficial to both the
mother and the child, economically, socially and health wise.

She explained that exclusive breast-feeding is fundamental
for optimal growth and development of babies in the first six months
of life.

Doctor Osundare urged nursing mothers to seek medical assistance when
breastfeeding becomes difficult.
