The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police says it has put all the command’s tactical squads on red alert to prevent members of various cult groups planning to mark what they call “8/8” tomorrow in the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi notes that the police have received an intelligent report that the event may result in bloodletting and wanton destruction of property.
The statement advises parents and guardians to warn their children to steer clear of any unlawful gathering on, before and after the said date.
It calls on hoteliers in the state not to allow their facilities to be used for any cult-related gathering as owners will be liable to prosecution.
The statement urges members of the public to go about their normal socio-economic activities without fear of harassment, intimidation and molestation.
