Men of Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police have arrested one Prophet Ebenezer Ajigbotolwa for allegedly defiling and impregnating two underage sisters and procuring abortion for them.
The suspect, who is the founder and general overseer of a Church in Abeokuta was arrested after the mother of the victims reported at Lafenwa Police Station that her sixteen and thirteen year old daughters had been allegedly defiled by the prophet.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi told journalists in Abeokuta that the mother of the victims claimed to have visited the church in 2018 for spiritual healing after she fell sick.
Mr Oyeyemi said the mother of the victims told the police that the suspect instructed the mother bring her entire family of six to the church premises to avoid being afflicted with the same sickness, giving room for prophet to abuse the children.
He said the prophet impregnated the two under-aged girls and went on to procure abortion for them in a private clinic, and also defrauded the family of two million naira cash, which he took for what he called spiritual cleansing.
Mr Oyeyemi, who pointed out that the suspect confessed to the allegations leveled against him, said items recovered from his home included assorted dangerous charms.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the suspect to be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
