Men of Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police have arrested two members of a cult group, who were contacted by a yet to be identified land grabber, to unleash terror on some communities in Ogijo area of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta, explained that the suspects, Oladayo Bello and Awobajo Muritala were apprehended following an information received by the DPO Ogijo Division, CSP Muhammed Baba.

Mr Oyeyemi said the DPO led his operatives to the hideout where about twenty members of the cult group were planning to launch an attack on some communities within the area on the instruction of a yet to be known land grabber.

The police spokesperson noted that the hoodlums opened fire on sighting the policemen and ran in various direction in a bid to escape but the operatives restrained from firing back to avoid killing innocent members of the public while they chased and apprehended two amongst them.

He said the police recovered two guns, five live cartridges, one axe, assorted charms and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp from the two cult members.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Mr Ajogun therefore warned land grabbers to stay away from the state, stressing that anyone trying to disturb the peace under any guise would be dealt with.
