Oyo State government and stakeholders in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state have partnered to apprehend the serial killer in the council who escaped from the police custody.

This followed a town hall meeting organized by the Oyo State government held at Moniya, headquarters of Akinyele Local Government.

Speaking at the event, Special Adviser on Security to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr Fatai Owoseni expressed concern on the incessant killings in the area especially the escape of Sunday Sodipe arrested in connection with the dastardly act.

Mr Owoseni who is also a former Commissioner of Police highlighted efforts by the present administration in the state on security and wondered how Sodipe could slip from police custody.

While warning people against jungle justice, the special adviser urged the relevant stakeholders to collaborate with police adding that the situation was under control.

The caretaker chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Mr Taoheed Jimoh appreciated various groups at curtailing security challenges in the Akinyele communities.

Representatives of various groups expressed displeasure on the escape of the suspected serial killer with a call for redeployment of police officers who have stayed too long in the council.

They however expressed readiness to work with security agencies in the state to improve the security of the area.

Some of the groups at the meeting include representatives of vigilante, hunters, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and landlord associations.

It would be recalled that the prime suspect in Akinyele serial killings, Sunday Sodipe who was arrested after eight persons had been gruesomely murdered recently in Akinyele escaped from police custody last week.
