A Nongovernmental Organisation, the Consumers’ Protection Advocacy Initiative. CPAI, Ogun State Chapter has appealed to the Federal Government to reverse the fuel pump price hike and the electricity tariff increase to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians.

The director of the NGO, Mr Ola Animashaun, who made the call in a statement in Abeokuta, described as unfair and unfortunate the new electricity tariff and fuel pump price hike.

Mr Animashaun said the step was contrary to the National Assembly’s submission to stay action on the increase in electricity tariff and hike in pump price of petrol

He encouraged the Federal Government to provide Nigerians with a reliable and effective metering and functional power supply as well as a steady supply of the petroleum products as an oil producing nation without any recourse to unjust price increase or adjustment.

Mr Animashaun reaffirmed the determination of the body to protect and defend the interest of consumers in the country against unfavorable decisions and policies.
