Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is committed to conducting credible and acceptable governorship election in Ondo State.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ondo State, Ambassador Rufus Akeju gave the indication at a training session for security operatives within the state ahead of the October 10 governorship poll.

Ambassador Akeju while placing emphasizes on the roles of the security operatives noted that there is need for synergy in the interest of the nation’s growing democracy.

The REC urged security operatives to assist INEC by doing the needful at ensuring a free and fair election.

In an address, Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abolaji Salami represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police ,DCP, Monday Kuryas promised not to take side before, during and after the conduct of the election.

In a remark, Director-General, The Electoral Institute, Dr Sa’ad Idris noted that adequate security ensures the free movement of electoral staff, voters, candidates, observers and other stakeholders on election day which add values to the electoral process.

Our correspondent reports that the training was being attended by men of the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army, NSCDC, FRSC, Immigration, NDLEA, DSS, NCS and Customs Service.
