Eight members of a dread cult group known as Black Axe have been arrested by men of Ogun state police command while mourning one of their member who died recently in Ogijo area of the state.

The suspected cultists were arrested following a report lodged at Ogijo police station where a 16 year old boy Onome Iduru was rushed to after been shot in the stomach by the cultists who were in procession in honour of their departed colleague.

The Police Public Relations officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi explains in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspects went to Ogijo community to unleash terror after they had shot and dispossessed the victim of valuables.

According to the statement the divisional Police Officer in Ogijo, Mr Muhammed Baba led his men to the scene of the incident where eight members of the violent group were arrested.

The statement points out that the item recovered from the suspects included a banner designed with the group insignia to announce the death of their member while the injured victim was taken to a private hospital for medical attention.

It adds that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
