Fear grips Ibadan residents as police clash with #ENDSARS protesters.

Palpable fear has enveloped Ojoo and its environs in Ibadan metropolis after the alleged clash between police and #ENDSARS protesters that led to fear death of four persons as well as burning of the police station and vehicles.

According to a witness, the situation became tensed when policemen at the Alakara police station intially shot into the air to disperse the protesters as they were moving closer to the station.

He explained that when the efforts did not have effect on the protesters, the police shot directly making the stray bullet allegedly killing 2 persons including a secondary school boy while many sustained severe injuries.

Another witness claimed the situation angered the protesters who launched attack on the police, killing 2 officers, setting ablaze the police station and its annex on the Ojoo end of Lagos/Ibadan Express way as well as vehicles within the station.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent who was at the scene saw the burning station and counted over twenty burnt vehicles including a truck.

The corpse of the boy was also seen being packed into a car as some of the onlookers claimed it was being taken to the state Governor’s office.

Despite the tensed atmosphere, no security officer was on ground to ensure law and order as scores of the protesters and hoodlums were parading the area.

The situation led to serious beating of a man in his forties who narrowly escaped death as he was accused of using his mobile phone camera to record the scenes.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi said it was hoodlums who attacked the police station, promising to give details later.
