Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that two of its men were killed and two others are missing in the ’ attack by hoodlums at Ojoo Police Division, Ibadan.

In a statement in Ibadan by Commissioner of Police, Mt Nwachukwu Enwonwu, he decried the dastardly act of the disgruntled and hardened criminals who have hijacked the EndSARS protests to unleash mayhem on police personnel.

He said some of the protesters have ulterior motives and capitalised on the opportunity of the protests to carry out their evil intentions leading to sordid activities of bandits and hardened criminals carrying out coordinated attacks on law abiding police officers and sending them to early graves.

Mr Nwachukwu noted that the burning of the police station was premeditated as police personnel did not have any interference with the protesters neither were they disturbed in any way.

He explained that due to the attacks, some of the police AK 47 rifles were still missing and as a result, he implored the people to be vigilant and report any individual or group who are not police officers or military personnel but seen with such rifles to immediately report to the nearest police station.

The Commissioner of Police implored the people to be law abiding to avoid the wrath of the law from catching up with them and called on parents to warn their children of the impending danger of going to the road.

He confirmed that effort was on to restore the situation to normal as Oyo State joint security taskforce code-named ‘Operation Burst’ are complementing Police Mobile Force’s efforts to prevent further attacks.
