The need for students to avoid pitfalls and to remain focused in the choice of career formed the focus of career talks organized by Old Baptist Students Association, Oke Ado, Ibadan.

The event which marks the 40th anniversary of the school featured talks by guest speakers who had made their marks in their respective fields.

The event held at the Baptist Hall, Oke Ado had senior secondary schools students in attendance.

One of the speakers who is also an alumnus of the school, the Osun State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Remi Omowaye advised the students to have a positive mindset and develop an interest in their talents.

Earlier, the President, National Association of Baptist Secondary School Old Students, Mr Tola Akinola encouraged the students not to be distracted by environmental factors but work towards their passion to be fulfilled in life.

Responding to students questions on parental influence in the choice of course of study, the primary and the secondary school administrators encouraged the students to return to the school for counselling.

Some of the students who spoke to Radio Nigeria confirmed that the career talk was an eye opener for them to make informed career choice.

They commended the school’s alumni for the lecture and pledged to remain focused while making their career choice.
