Ekiti State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on the State with effect from today November 1.
The State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Mr Akin Omole announced this in a statement in Ado Ekiti.
He explained that the decision to lift the curfew was taken after an assessment of the security situation and the restoration of relative peace in the State.
The commissioner added that Governor Kayode Fayemi also approved the lifting of the restrictions placed on religious gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic with effect from today.
The commissioner stressed that Churches and Mosques were now free to open for worship without restrictions.
Mr Omole however emphasized the need for worshippers to continue to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols, especially wearing of face-masks, maintaining social distancing, washing their hands and sanitizing their hands as well before joining their respective congregations.
He also stressed the need for residents in the State to be law abiding, vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement noticed in their areas to relevant authorities for prompt action.
Mr Omole assured that the State Government would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people in the State.
