Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers to encourage more Nigerians to adopt the use of LPG for domestic use.

Governor Abiodun who made the call while playing host to the National Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers at his Oke Mosan, Abeokuta Office, said the move would help to prevent air pollution and deforestation usually caused by the use of firewood.

The governor expressed concern that the production of gas cylinder in the country had reduced drastically and urged the marketers to promote domestic use of LPG by selling the product at subsidized rate.

Earlier, the Chairman, National Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, Western Zone, Mr Ogunrinde Adebayo had called on the government to make the product available and affordable to Nigerians.

Mr Ogunrinde who also advocated the harmonization of regulatory activities in the sector said the association would collaborate with the state government in ensuring the provision of clean and safe energy.
