Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen in Ogun State have been charged to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties to further boost people’s confidence in democracy.

Chairman, Ogun State House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Akeem Balogun, gave the charge during the lawmakers’ oversight visit to some Local Government Council Areas in the state to assess their performance for the period of August and October 2020.

Mr Balogun who admonished the councils not to rely on the revenue from the federation account gave the assurance that the Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, would engage the relevant government’s agencies towards ensuring the remittance of all revenues accruable to the councils.

He noted that the Local Government Chairmen also needed to strengthen their revenue base to complement what would be accruable to them from sources being handled by the state government.

In separate remarks, Chairmen of the local governments, including Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ijebu East and Ijebu North East promised to intensify efforts at making life meaningful for the people.
