Following the crisis that erupted at Agodi gate earlier this morning, the Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command has deployed its officers to restore normalcy in the area.

Our correspondent gathered that the crisis in which one person was injured was triggered by an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Oyo State Command, who allegedly shot at a commercial motorcyclist.

The situation led to hurried closure of shops in the area to avoid attacks and looting by hoodlums.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi said the rift was between an officer of the Correctional Centre and an Okada man and not police officer as speculated.

According to the Public Relation Officer, Nigerian Correctional Services,  Olanrewaju Anjorin, the rift started when commercial motorcyclists plying Iwo- Road –Bashorun Akobo axis refused to move their park from the frontage of the correctional centre.

Though, an unconfirmed sources said two persons were feared dead during the crisis.

Following the pandemonium that erupted after the shooting of a commercial motorcyclist in Gate area of Ibadan, okada riders have attacked the police stations in the area.

The Okada riders in their numbers attacked the police stations, destroying the buildings. The first police station in Idi-Omo, around bus stop was burnt by the rampaging riders while the second one opposite Wema Bank was vandalised.
