As part of the resolve by President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure effective implementation of universal health coverage at the grassroots, a multi-million clinic that would serve NYSC corps members and the host community have been inaugurated.

The health centre, located at Iseyin, possesses state-of-the-art facilities such as pharmacy unit, record, laboratory, consulting rooms, male and female wards, toilets, beds and chairs.

Performing the inauguration, the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Professor Jesse Otegbayo said the project funded by the Federal Government was given thorough supervision to meet health demands of NYSC corps members and Iseyin people.

Professor Otegbayo, who urged NYSC management to ensure proper maintenance of the health centre, said UCH would continue to support the project through the provision of personnel.

Earlier, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Grace Ogbuegebe who said the project was conceptualized by former Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, said the project which was completed within four months.

She added that the health centre, which is first of its kinds in Nigeria, would further help in accommodating more corps members as the former clinic would be converted to hostel block.

Brigadier General Ibrahim, who said NYSC had been engaged in the provision of Covid 19 preventive kits, however appealed to corporate organizations to donate more similar facilities for NYSC orientation camps across the country.
