Police in Ghana say five people have been killed in violence linked to Monday’s election.

In a statement, police said there were 21 cases of electoral violence across the country including several shooting incidents.

The results of the presidential and parliamentary elections are expected in a few hours’ time.

Representatives of President Nana Akufo Addo’s party and those of the opposition’s John Mahama are each predicting victory in what is expected to be a tight race.

This is the third time the two politicians have faced each other in a presidential election.
