A young man suspected to be ritualist escaped being lynched by a mob at Apata area of Ibadan

The suspect, who was arrested by residents of Aba Aladie along Queens Road, Oluyole Extention in the early hours of the day, was alleged of an attempt to kidnap a child in the community.

The arrest, according to a resident who craved anonymity, alerted other members of the community who later tortured the suspect.

Attesting to the development, a guard in the community, Mr Sunday John said the suspected kidnapper confessed to the allegation.

Mr john said the suspect was later taken to BCJ Bus Stop where police officers from Aba Apata Area Command rescued the suspect from the mob who were about to set him ablaze.

Our correspondent, who monitored the development, reported that the suspect had been detained at the area command.

Efforts to get the reaction of the chairman of landlords association were unsuccessful.
