Osun State Government Commences Construction Olaiya Flyover
Osun State Government is set to commence the construction of the Olaiya flyover with a three-hour demonstration closure between 2pm and 5pm on Friday January 29, 2021.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Remi Omowaiye, the construction areas would be closed for three hours on Friday, January 29, as part of the protocols for the commencement of the construction.
He stated that the closure was a demo closure, which will last for only three hours.
Mr omowaye noted that the roads around the construction area would be closed between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, as a form of trial-performance for traffic control during the period of the construction.
He hinted that one hundred and ten officers from the Federal Road Safety Corps, Civil Defence Corps, the Police Force and the state’s O’Tram officers would be strategically positioned along the diversion routes and critical locations like Okefia, Olaiya, New Orisunmbare market area, Jaleyemi, Aregbe, Akindeko and Akinlade junctions, Capital, Lamido, to ensure compliance and orderliness.
The commissioner enjoined citizens to cooperate with the security and traffic management apparatuses during this exercise, as outcomes of this exercise would form baseline to subsequent traffic management routines during the period of the construction.
It will be recalled that government had earlier announced its intention to construct a flyover across the Fakunle-Olaiya, Odi Olowo-Olaiya, Akindeko-Olaiya and MDS-Olaiya intersections as part of measures to address traffic and safety issues in the axis.
