An Osogbo Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo has ordered that a 44-years old man, Kazeem Olapade be remanded in Ilesa Correctional facility for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter. 

Olapade was arraigned on three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, indecent assault and canal knowledge of his daughter. 

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintunde told the court that Olapade who resided at Ido-Osun, Osogbo between August 2020 and January 2021 raped his daughter on many occasions before he was arrested by the police. 

According to him, the offence of unlawful sexual intercourse contravened Section 31(1) (2) of the Child’s Rights Law of Osun State 2007, while unlawful carnal knowledge is contrary to and punishable under Section 214(1) and 360of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002. 

However, Olapade pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him. 

Counsel to the defendant, Mr K.C Abioye made an oral bail application for Olapade in the most liberal term. 

The presiding magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara refused to grant bail to the defendant, while he ordered that Olapade be remanded in Ilesha Correctional center. 

Dr Ayilara adjourned the matter till February 5, 2021, for ruling on bail application.
