Oyo State Government says plans are underway to get rid of travel agencies who have been defrauding prospective students planning to study abroad.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye stated this at the opening ceremony of Education USA Advising Centre in Ibadan.

Mr Olaleye, who explained that many unsuspecting individuals had been scammed of their hard earned resources while seeking admissions overseas, added that the operation of Education USA would enlighten prospective students hoping to study abroad.

In a key note address the Public Affairs Officer U.S Cosulate Lagos Mr Stephen Ibelli noted that over fourteen thousand Nigerian students were studying in United States of America.

Mr. Ibelli said the Education USA Advising Centre was put in place to guide students through the steps of admission and visa procurement free of charge.

Two of students, Fatia Adebajo and Olakunle Adebayo who lauded the establishment of the centre, said gaining admission to higher institutions had been made easy.

With the opening of Ibadan centre, the Education USA now has a total of six centres spread across Nigeria.
