A rally to mark this year’s International Women’s Day has been organized by the wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde.
The walk was also in conjunction with the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.
The walk which was tagged “Women in Leadership: achieving an Equal Future in Covid 19 World” took off from Government’s House Arcade through Oje market to Gate bus stop.
Addressing the women, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Joke Sanni said, although Covid 19 had negatively affected the world, women should rise to the challenges.
The walk had in attendance Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi, some permanent secretaries, women from the states civil service and journalists, all clad in purple T-shirt to commemorate the day.
International Women’s Day is usually celebrated on every 8th March.
