There was wild excitement in the camp of Team Oyo yesterday after the state’s athletes won sixteen gold medals in a day.

The state had won ten gold medals before yesterday’s sporting activities, with the hope of breaking the record of 2018 edition, where the state won a total of sixteen gold medals.

The Pacesetter Athletes later won gold medals in Weightlifting, Chess, Trado Sports Ayo Olopon, Tennis, Darts 701 and Long Jump, making it twenty six gold medals.

The state equally won silver and bronze medals in Cycling, Tennis, Wrestling, para table tennis, javelin and 4×400 mixed relay.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, chairman, Oyo state sports council, Chief Gbenga Adewusi and the director of Organization in the sports council, Mr Kehinde Ojelowo described the gold medal rush as very surprising 

As Team Oyo goes into today’s games in anticipation of winning more gold medals, the state currently has twenty six gold, nineteen silver and forty one bronze medals.
