LG Election: 80% Of Applicants For Ad-hoc Staff Are Teachers – OYSIEC

Eighty percent of applicants for ad-hoc staff in the forthcoming local government election in Oyo state are teachers.

Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Chief Isiaka Olagunju, who stated this while on courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Teachers’, NUT, Teacher House, Ring Road, Ibadan, also confirmed that majority of OYSIEC commissioners are teachers, thus the success of the coming election depends much on them.

Chief Olagunju appealed to teachers not to betray trust and confidence reposed in them, while urging the union to collaborate with the commission on information dissemination to ensure that people participate to elect candidates of their choice as representatives at the local government level.

In a remark, the State Chairman, NUT, Mr. Samson Adedoyin urged OYSIEC to provide level playing field for all contestants in the poll to entrench democracy at the grassroots governance.

Mr. Adedoyin promised to assist OYSIEC towards conducting free and fair election.

The Oyo State NUT finance officer, Mr. Dele Afolabi advised OYSIEC to make courage and character his watchwords and to put in place adequate security arrangements for the safety of personnel and electoral materials.
