The people of Orhomuru-Orogun in Ughelli North, in Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State, have expressed the hope that the inauguration of a 7.5MVA Injection Substation in the area, would address the challenges of epileptic power supply in Orogun and environs.

They made the observation during the ground breaking ceremony for the Power Substation in Orhomuru-Orogun, where the residents commended President Mohammadu Buhari and the Deputy President of the Senate representing the senatorial district Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, for facilitating the project to the area.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Omo-Agege, in a remark to the occasion noted the federal government was making significant efforts aimed at improving the energy supply to residents across the country.

Senator Omo-Agege said in line with the policy direction, he facilitated the construction of the power substation, in addition to the provision of electricity transformers and installation of solar powered street lights in many communities in Delta Central to advance the standard of living of the people.

The Deputy Senate President also urge the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, to live up to expectation by providing mass metering units for the residents.

The Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, Mr. Chiedu Ugboh, and a representative of BEDC, Mr. Gadzama Mele, narrated the functions of the power substation and plans for its execution.

They say the project would also serve the electricity needs of the newly established Federal University Orugun, which is a few kilometers from the substation.

A representative of Orhomuru-Orogun community Mr. Godspower Odenena, lauded the federal government and Senator Omo-Agege for the initiative, which he stressed would upgrade power supply to the area.

Overjoyed by the development many residents stormed the venue to sing praises to the federal government in the local Urhobo language.

High point of the occasion was the symbolic bricklaying ceremony and the official launch of the power substation project by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, in company of NDPHC and BEDC officials.
