A cobbler, Mr Gbadebo Baaki has asked for a five million naira compensation for medical treatment following the injury he sustained from brutality by Amotekun Corps.

He made the demand in a petition before the Justice Badejoko-led Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutality.

Mr Baaki said he was attacked with machete by eight Amotekun Corps personnel on the 31st December, 2020.

The petitioner explained that the incident occurred when he left his shop to the house of Opeyemi his friend.

He explained after the assault, he was taken to the police station at idi-Aro Ibadan.

Responding, the Defence counsels for Amotekun corps, Tosin Fijabi and Olusola Orobode, said the petitioner might be among the Ita-Ege boys. 

The counsels told the panel that the petitioner had refused to be attended to by a doctor brought to treat him by the police at Idi Aro Station.

Amotekun Corps counsel said further that the petitioner claimed that he would only allow the doctor to clean his injured head as stitching it was something forbidden in his family.

The panel therefore requested the presence of the doctor that treated Mr Baaki at the police station and the I.P.O that collected money for his bail.

The case was adjourned till 2nd June, 2021 with counsels for Amotekun Corps requested to produce detailed information of the doctor who treated the petitioner.
