Participants at a forum have proposed policies that would help improve the mental performance of African children and adolescents to fulfill their socio-economic vision in the continent.

The forum was put together by the Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, CCAMH, to mark the Day of the African Child.

One of the participants who is the acting Director, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Department, University of Ibadan, Dr Tolulope Bella-Awusah emphasized the need to implement policies and programmes that would assist the developmental process of Nigerian children.

Similarly, a research fellow from Cameroun at the Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Dr Rita Timambang commended the school feeding program of the Nigerian federal government and called for reduction in the number of pupils to a teacher ratio to enhance proper learning.

Highlight of the event was presentation of awards of excellence to intellectual contributors to child mental health development.
