Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, has called for the implementation of functional laws and regulations to curb the excesses of articulated vehicle drivers with a view to reducing road crashes in the state.

The Speaker, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, stated this during the lawmakers’ visit to the scene of a fire outbreak at the proposed new Kara Market site at Ogere corridor of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway. 

Mr. Oluomo pointed out the need to restrict the time articulated trucks ply all categories of roads in the state, while also enforcing effective monitoring of their activities by relevant safety agencies.

The speaker advised the drivers to desist from practices that could expose other road users to danger, pointing out that 9th Assembly was committed to partnering necessary stakeholders towards ensuring safety of all road users.

Earlier, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Ahmed Umar had explained that the corps was collaborating with other relevant agencies to restore normalcy to the expressway.
