As part of efforts to curb criminal activities, the chairman, Oorelope Local Government area of Oyo state, Mr Akeem Raheem, has presented five new Bajaaj Motorcycles to the vigilante corps and local hunters in the council.
Mr Raheem during the presentation which was held at the Oorelope Local Government Secretariat, in Igboho, urged the security officers to redouble their efforts and improve operational tactics in a bid to achieve the desired goals of securing the area.
He cautioned them against using the gifts for personal purpose, stressing that they were meant patrol by all the vigilantes and local hunters.
Mr. Raheem maintained that the procurement and presentation of the motorbikes were in conformity with the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde that local government chairmen must step up to the plate on the issue of security.
He assured the vigilantes and local hunters that more motorcycles were being expected to enhance efficient and regular security operations.
The chairman also charged the vigilantes and residents of the local government to dial the state’s Security Code 615 whenever there are security challenges.
